As a wedding photographer, I've had the pleasure of working at a variety of beautiful venues, and Hidden River Barn is certainly one of the most breathtaking. Nestled in the serene landscape of Cumbria, this venue is a true hidden gem. Recently, Courtney and I had the privilege of capturing Lauren and Jonathan’s special day here, and we were both blown away by its beauty and charm.
The open-plan barn is the heart of the venue, providing a spacious yet intimate setting for both your ceremony and reception. With its high ceilings, exposed beams, and large windows letting in plenty of natural light, it creates the perfect backdrop for capturing timeless wedding moments. The barn’s neutral tones allow any wedding theme to shine, and the versatile space can be tailored to fit your unique style.
But what makes Hidden River Barn truly stand out are the stunning accommodations scattered throughout the grounds. There are 14 different cabins, houses, and cottages, each designed with comfort and elegance in mind. These charming accommodations aren’t just for guests—they also serve as perfect spots for bridal and groom prep. Lauren and Jonathon opted to stay in the Hidden River House which provide a relaxed atmosphere, and with plenty of space, they are ideal for capturing those intimate, behind-the-scenes moments. It even had a hot tub!
Beyond the barn itself, the grounds are a photographer’s dream. The beautiful countryside vistas, with lush forests and flowing rivers, offer endless opportunities for stunning outdoor portraits. Unfortunately, due to bad weather on the day, the most me and Courtney got to experience of it, was a quick dash along the road with the couple. Regardless, Whether you want candid shots of your guests enjoying the fresh air or romantic portraits by the water, Hidden River Barn delivers. The scenery complements the barn perfectly, creating a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, as if the couple and their loved ones are the only ones in the world. Oh, and did i mention that it's dog friendly?
